10 Reasons You Should Never Criticize the Democratic Party

10. If you criticize the Democrats, you clearly work for the GOP

Prior to 2016, the left was completely united. Homelessness, police brutality, economic inequity, the achievement gap, attacks on indigenous sovereignty, ICE raids, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, and misogyny had all been eliminated. No communities had to organize politically to assert their rights at the local, state, or federal levels because under the Democrats — especially during the Obama Administration — ensured everyone’s rights were protected and everyone’s needs were met.

The only people that would possibly say anything negative about the Democratic party is clearly a GOP operative or is otherwise seeking to destroy the party. Black Lives Matter? GOP. Voting Rights Advocates? Practically alt-right. People living with disabilities? Russian Bots.

No one from the left would ever have a right or reason to criticize the Democratic Party. So, don’t fall for it.

9. All the Democrats do is win.

The Democrats always use the most effective strategies — and they always win. So, what is there possibly to critique? If there was a series of tangible losses that could be pointed to that resulted from using the same ineffective strategies over and over again, then maybe it would be worth applying a critical analysis to the Democrats’ strategies. But clearly, the Democrats are doing everything they can with every resource they have — and it’s working. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?

8. The White middle and upper class Democrats are still safe and sound. And that’s all that matters.

Too many people are getting bent out of shape about the GOP’s attacks on people of color, people living with disabilities, poor folks, and other communities intentionally targeted by the white supremacists in power. But who’s fault is that? The GOP’s.

What do the Democrats have to do with enforcing civil rights?

These so-called marginalized “Democrats” want to vote, they want to stop being incarcerated for no reason, they want access to good schools and housing, they want the police to stop gunning them down in the streets, they want to feed their kids, they don’t want to be forced into poverty and homelessness and on and on and on and somehow, they got the idea it was the Democrats in power that were supposed to make that happen.

I mean sure, the Democrats use political rhetoric when they need votes or support for their own work, but no one expects them to follow through in real life, do they? Their agendas have always been written, designed for, and led by white middle and upper class citizens and the people of color that are willing to put a more “culturally inclusive” face to the same old white agendas. As long as these folks have everything they need — stop complaining.

7. The working class will be fine living in poverty for another decade or so.

The Democrats recently announced their agenda to push off efforts to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour until 2024. That’s a poverty level wage right now, and it will be even less adequate for survival in 2024. Sure, they could have raised it a few years back when they controlled both the White House and Congress, but that would have put the Democratic party and the nation as a whole in complete peril.

If small business owners and corporations alike were forced to pay wages that their employees could successfully live on, their savings and personal vacations would be in jeopardy. The middle class would revolt and turn to the GOP that openly protects the implicit rights for business owners to exploit workers, Then the economy would crumble.

By refusing to raise the minimum wage at their own local, state (and when they had the chance) federal levels, the Democrats are literally saving the nation. Who are you to judge such heroism? Think more positive. Poverty is a state of mind.

6. Women’s rights were just a fad — so stop acting so hysterical.

Women are equals in this country now and they are so well protected that the whole “pro-choice” thing really doesn’t need to be an issue anymore. Sure, the man occupying the white house openly brags about sexual assault. And yes, he has already reinstated the Global Gag Rule, revoked the 2014 Fair Pay and Safe Workspaces Act, forced Neil Gorsuch into the SCOTUS seat belonging to Merrick Garland, signed an executive order to stop federal finding to Planned Parenthood and other agencies that proved abortions an threatens to decimate any and all funding and programs for women’s healthcare and public services.

But so, what? Who needs to preserve a strong stance for women to maintain control of their own bodies and prevent the deaths cause by inaccessible care? It’s just so last year. What is more important is to attract new voters. Voters that are ok selling out women’s rights. Voters that will forgive the Democrats when Roe vs Wade is overturned and every piece of legislation protecting and supporting women is dismantled.

Really though ladies, when it comes down to it, where would you take your pink hats anyways? To the GOP? Sorry dolls, you’re better off with the Democrats. Now be good and play nice with the pro-lifers.

5. The Democrats are really just good people. Stop bullying them.

Think about it like this, what if your child needs a lifesaving surgery. How do you choose a doctor? It’s pretty simple, right? You want someone polite with good intentions that would make you think, “Hey, I bet they are a good person.” It doesn’t matter whether they are competent at their job or not. You aren’t looking for an expert or someone with a history of success in their specialty. It’s just your kid’s life. And whether it’s one kid in your life or tens of millions of lives at risk under the GOP’s attacks — when lives are on the line, go with intentions. Not experience. Not expertise. Intentions. The Democrats have nothing, and I mean nothing, if they don’t insert intentions where expertise might creep in. So just like you’d choose a surgeon or a pilot or a vet based on intentions, you want to choose your representatives using a similar strategy. Common sense.

4. Speaking out against the GOP is more than enough. And the Democrats are not afraid to speak.

You can’t find people more willing to go on TV, podcasts, social media, speaking events, county fairs and any other place that might shine a spotlight on them while they speak. And there is nothing they aren’t afraid to speak about. They speak out on all kinds of things like healthcare, women’s rights, climate change, education, LGBTQ rights…this list goes on and on. And that’s how things get done in politics.

Don’t waste time passing legislation or enforcing rights in the courts, or using economic authority to stop the Trump administration or the GOP. All you need to do is speak out. And that is all the Democrats are doing. So, trust that all that talking will eventually pay off and make sure no one interferes with action. This is how to stop the GOP.

3. It’s really hard pandering to the white middle class and pimping the lower classes at the same time.

It’s not easy coming up with and successfully applying rhetoric that will appeal to people of color, poor folks, people with disabilities, the LGBTQ community, non-Christians, immigrants, and otherwise peripheral communities while still maintaining an agenda that clearly only serves the white middle and upper classes. It takes a lot of effort to maintain authority while lying to one set of constituents and pandering to another. This task is especially difficult when a non-negotiable need to enforce bipartisanship is thrown into the equation.

2. Alt-Centrism must be maintained. And no one holds a centrist position better than the Democrats.

Whether it is white supremacists, Russian puppets, or an otherwise deplorable segment of the GOP — the Democrats will bend over backwards to make compromises with them. They will work tirelessly to sell out people of color, poor folks, people with disabilities, women, children, and the nation to cut a deal with murderers, traitors, cheats, and liars if they wear the GOP label.

When given the choice to unite with constituents targeted by white power and those assaulting them in its name, they will choose to work with white supremacists every time. And that’s what is good for the nation right now.

Unity means uniting behind a normative, centrist white agenda. If we united behind the rights of people of color, poor folks, people living with disabilities and other target communities, the Democrats would likely dismantle the GOP entirely. But the party would also no longer be in control of the white minority. And nobody wants that, right?

1. It’s fine if the GOP keeps control of all three branches of government for as long as they want.

Maybe you wish a Democrat was in the White House, but you know how much work it would take to actually fight back a combination of Confederate traitors and Russian puppets. Who has time for that?

I mean, sure, the GOP suppressed 30–50 million voters to steal and collaborated with Russia to fix the 2016 election; they are dismantling and centralizing the federal government to serve the Trump Administration and the Russian-Chinese agenda, they have detached us from our allies in the Western Alliance and begun advancing the nation into war; they have stripped people of color, women people with disabilities, poor folks, immigrants, non-Christians and members of the LGBTQ community of their rights, lives and livelihoods; they have set ICE and police on our communities of color, attacked indigenous sovereignty, removed science from politics and protections form the planet, bombed Syria without Congressional consent; and hell, they even moved the capitol of the United States to Florida. You know, Florida…that state down in the south.

But seriously. How is that the Democrats’ problem?

Why should they counter the GOP with a united front, in the courts, at every point of legislative, economic, social, and political authority available to them? They already spend most of their time using those strategies against target marginalized communities so they don’t take over the party. If we added the GOP to that list, it would just be way too much to ask of them. It’s much better to hide behind the excuse of being outnumbered in Congress than it is to acknowledge overwhelming local, state and interstate legal, political, economic, and social authority and mobilize it into a counterattack on the GOP.

Plus, fighting the GOP would destroy the nation. Letting the Confederacy take the White House is clearly the only way to prevent a Civil War. We should thank the Democrats, really, for preventing the destruction of the nation by turning the other cheek.

So, let the Democrats do their thing. As long as they continue to speak out, maintain an alt-centrist pose, sell out communities of struggle to the white middle and upper classes, and keep up a clean image — all is well in the world, right?

Who could possibly complain?
